Please, Tell Me It Was A Lie

I managed to get out of my job earlier than usual tonight, so I decided to call up Donnie. I was hoping that he would be able to help get me in to speak to Diana again. Afterall, I know she's hiding more information from me, and she will only talk to me about anything involving Him.

Me: Hey Donnie, it's Lucien.

Donnie: Hey Lucien, I haven't heard from you in awhile. I guess business picked up for you.

Me: You can say that again. One of my co-workers has just disappeared out of nowhere, and I have to take on the extra hours now. I'm getting physically drained from it all.

Donnie: Understandable, afterall, I've had my plate full with these missing person's cases for awhile. There's never any rest.

Me: Speaking of which, I was hoping I could ask a favor of you.

Donnie: What's that?

Me: I need to speak to Diana again.

Donnie: (Silent for a moment, then speaks up) Why do you need to talk to her again?

Me: Well, the truth is......(I hesitated for a moment, because I needed to carefully word what I was gonna say), she was helpful to us before, and maybe she could be helpful to us for the cases again.

Donnie: Yeah, thanks to you talking to her, we did learn a few new things. However, there is a serious problem with this now.

Me: What's the problem? They discovered I wasn't a junior cop and I can't go back?

Donnie: No, something even bigger.

Me: What could possibly be bigger?

Donnie: The cases were taken from me. My department is no longer allowed to cover anything related to these missing persons.

Me: Taken from you? Who has the authority to do that? You're the Chief of Police!

Donnie: That fact doesn't matter. When the FBI comes along and says the cases belong to them, I cannot argue with it, or else I lose my job.

Me: (gulps) The FBI?

Donnie: Yeah. They came into my office a few days ago. Typical black suit agents and such. They seemed like lackeys, and I couldn't get any names. But one of them put a letter on my desk and simply said "Read it. These are your new instructions." It beared the official FBI insignia and letterhead, so I knew it was legit. The letter basically said that since my department was unable to make any headway in the missing persons cases, and that we had lost too many children to this point, the FBI would be taking over the cases. All files, information and such were to be handed over to them immediately. I had already made copies for myself, so I willingly handed over the originals.

Me: Who was the letter signed by? (I said this with a little bit of fear in my voice, afraid of the response)

Donnie: It was printed, signed, and insignia stamped by a man named Fisk.

Me: (My stomach dropped immediately, and I felt like I turned white at the mention of that name) Fisk? I guess it's pretty serious then if the FBI is taking over.

Donnie: Yeah, it is. But that's not stopping me. I'm still gonna do my own........

Me: Be careful what you say, Donnie. You don't know if they are listening in on the conversation.

Donnie: Good point. We should meet up sometime soon, I'll explain more in person. And I'll see what I can do for you in the other query of yours. The cases may not be mine, but I still have some pull around here.

Me: Thanks Donnie. I'll get back in touch with you next time I'm available.

Donnie: No problem, Lucien. Goodnight.

The FBI. Fisk. They are in my town. My home. And I'm scared.

Why did they come here?

They took over Zeke's cases and started hunting him down.

They began investigating into Celeste as well.

Are they going to come after me too? Or.....my sister?

And now, to top it all off, it seems that my stalker on youtube has left me a new video. Its a little old, apparently posted a few days after I got home from my vacation.

Oh Luke

I'm terrible with things like this, so if anybody can help me decode the audio in that video, it would be greatly appreciated.

I need to sleep. Or else I may have a bit of a breakdown.

Time Flies

Two weeks. That's how long it's been since I updated.

No, I haven't lost track of time or disappeared or anything. Kay would have mentioned something about that. Don't worry, I'm fine, at least mentally for now.

Physically, it's another story.

Since I got back from my vacation, I've been working constantly. I'm pulling almost 60 hours a week now. Why?

One of the other stable hands is gone.

She didn't quit, she didn't call out. She just flat-out disappeared. This leaves only 3 of us in the stables now, and considering that we always need 2 people in the morning shifts, and then at least 1 per night, it's been rough. The two guys that are left only work mornings, due to either not driving or other jobs, and they each get one day off a week, so I take those mornings now, plus I work all of the nights during the week. Even holidays, like today, I still have to work. At least I don't have to worry about not making money (though Atlantic City helped me with that too).

A thought occurred to me. As we have learned, our tall friend likes to play with His prey before He eliminates them. So perhaps He has a hand in the stable hand disappearing: to physically weaken me before trying to come after me again.

The other reason I've not posted lately is also because I'm trying to gather all my information together about the Keeper Alliance. If you have read his blog recently, we now know that Jeff (our Jeff) has perished, but that his real name is Richie. The man posting now is apparently the real Jeff. Not sure what to believe on that, but perhaps I took over at the right time.

I am still trying to decode The Count's last clue. I haven't gone back to the lake yet, due to work. I'm hoping I can get out early one day this week I am doing a morning shift, and head to the lake between the two work shifts. However, there is something else I want to do before I go back there, even though it's against my better judgement.

I need to talk to Diana again. She knew about me. She knew I was lying about my name. I can't tell if she was trying to help me or to do something to hurt me. But I have a feeling that she has more information than she originally told me. But, just like with the lake, I need to find a way to do this.

Pieces slowly starting to come together, but still jumbled up on the board. I just need to find how to connect them.

Return

I'm finally home from my vacation. It was a very long and enjoyable weekend, with quite a few surprises.

First, since I am home, I can say where I was: Atlantic City, NJ. About a 2 and a half hour drive for me. I went down there for a Rocky Horror Picture Show convention (yes, I am a Rocky fan, sue me). I got there after grabbing my friend and girlfriend at around 5pm on Thursday. We stayed in the Showboat with another friend of ours. Checked in, got settled into the room, and starting walking around to have fun. I didnt gamble the first night because I wanted to wait a day or so and be sure I wanted to win some money.

Friday, we spent some time with yet another friend walking on the boardwalk. We went to the Ripley's Museum, ate at Johnny Rockets, checked out some stores for shopping, etc... That night, we got invited to parties from several of the RHPS shadowcasts that were there. Enjoyed my free alcohol. I definitely needed some drinks after all I've been through the past month and a half.

Saturday, I decided to head into the casino itself and gamble. I choose to stay away from slot machines since I lose more money there. I chose to head over to the Taj Mahal and try my hand at $1 blackjack.

It seems The Count's prediction came true for me. He said some good would come from the weekend.

Just from blackjack, I won over $10,000.

But that's not all. I headed over to roulette after that, to see if I was still lucky, and I was. I won another $30,000.

$40,000. I've never had that much money before in my life. It was a miracle for me. But I wonder, how did The Count know I would have luck and win the money?

Well, obviously, he knew I was going to be there too.

A letter was delivered to my room.

I would have filmed it for my youtube, but for some reason, all the batteries I have tried in my camera keep dying after about 10 seconds. I dont know if it's the batteries, the camera, or something else, but I may have to limit using the camera for a bit.

The letter was from The Count, and it reads as follows:

Lucien,
     The first clue was easy
     This next one is not
     To figure it out
     Remember what you forgot

     You met me before
     I've watched you grow
Been a part of your life
     Hidden in the shadow

     My history is long
     My life has been too
     When it will end
     I haven't a clue

     So let's play the game
     For old time's sake
     A round of manhunt
     Down by the lake

     7-C
)-L
-The Count

I'm definitely confused by this one. "Remember what I forgot?" "A round of manhunt?" I have never played manhunt in my life. And how can I remember what I forgot? However, he does mention the lake again. Seems I can't avoid that damn place. I will try to get there this week.

So, I'm home, and I've been checking updates on things. First off, Reach and Ava. Apparently, they have split, and Ava is pregnant with Reach's child. I don't know if they read my stuff here, but if they do, then to the both of you: please try to work things out, if not relationship-wise, at least friendship-wise, so you can be civil with each other and help take care of that child.

Next big update is from Dr. Cairo. Last week, I decided to look at his blog, and I noticed that nobody had gotten any closer to solving that card puzzle from Benefactor. I decided to give it a shot before I left for AC, hoping to help him out.

Benefactor left subtle hints that nobody picked up on. He favorited two videos on youtube: How to Play Solitaire, and All The Right Moves by One Republic. Obviously, he meant for the cards to be arranged in a solitaire fashion. And in the song, the one line tells how to arrange the cards: They'll be the King of Hearts, and you're the Queen of Spades.  Therefore, Hearts with Spades, Diamonds with Clubs. I managed to translate and organize everything, and I got a little worried. This is Benefactor's message:

The Doctor Lies
Do Not Trust Him
More Infection
Increased Fear

I'm beginning to worry now. Benefactor says we can't trust Cairo. But Cairo says we can't trust Benefactor. And to top that off, Benefactor posted a new video, telling everybody that I'm the only one that can be trusted now. So much happening now, it seems to be getting to be a lot, and there is still that big decision I mentioned before I left for vacation.

As you all know, Jeff the Keeper of Let Us Live is dead. He sacrificed himself to try and save Cheska. Now she is captured herself. They were the leaders of The Keeper Alliance. Jeff was also the leader of the Isabel Initiative. Without them, there's nobody to take charge of it.

Until now.

My decision: I am stepping up to the plate. As of today, I am no longer a member of the Isabel Initiative, or a helper to the Keeper Alliance.. In honor of Jeff and Cheska, I am taking on the role of the leader of the Keeper Alliance, and the Isabel Initiative. Jeff, I hope I do you proud.

Vacation Time

In about 7 hours, I will be going to pick up my girlfriend and another friend, and we will be leaving for vacation. We won't be home until Sunday night. Hopefully, the weekend will be more fun then scary or anything else. I will not say where I am going, just go that I don't giveaway my location to people who do not need to know.

Having trouble sleeping tonight. Woke up from a dream. I haven't had one like this in a while. I found myself back at the house from my earlier dreams. It was still burned down from the last time I was there. I went inside, looking for the study. I know the book was gone, but I felt there was something there I could use, or at least a clue. I found the doors to the study, but I heard a voice calling my name. It was the same voice I heard the other day by the football field.

I failed to mention this the other day, but the voice wasn't calling for Lucien Drage.

It was calling for Luke Davies.

I shouldn't be surprised that that voice is calling my real name, since I have officially revealed it. But it still made me wonder who would be looking for me. I opened the door to the study, and what I saw was just a complete surprise.

The best way to describe is in the following two words: Black, Distorted. I did not feel compelled to go in there, but I had to test something. I lifted my leg and slowly placed it inside this place.

Immediately, my foot began to hurt. It was what I thought it was.

The Path of Black Leaves.

Before I could go further, a figure pulled me back from the room and slammed the doors shut.

The figure was wearing a black hooded cloak.

The Count.

The Count: You fool! I told you that you weren't ready to go in there! Why did you do it?

Me: I wanted to test my theory true........wait a second, this is my dream. Why are you here?

The Count: To make sure you don't do anything stupid! It may be a dream, but do you really think you're safe here? You're never safe when it comes to Him!

Me: Then why was I able to be in that room before?

The Count: Don't you get it? He wanted you in the Path, because the longer you were there, the weaker you would become and the easier it would be for Him to conquer you.

Me: I didn't realize it then. How long have you been watching over me like this?

The Count: Long enough, Luke. Long enough.

Me: Why can't you tell me who you are, or let me speak to you in person?

The Count: You have to prove you are worthy. You have to show you are smart, skilled, reliable. Without the qualities I seek, I won't find the one to take over for me.

Me: Take over? For what?

The Count: You'll see, if you can figure this all out. Another clue will be coming your way soon. And it won't be as easy.

Me: Don't worry, Count. I'm up for the challenge. I just hope it will be worth it in the end.

The Count: It will. And also, enjoy your weekend. I'm sure some good will come from it.

I woke up right after he said that.

Well, its nearly 6 in the morning. I guess I should pack my things. Bringing my camera and extra batteries with me. Afterall, its my first vacation in years. Gotta take some pics, maybe videos. If anything worthwhile is taken, I will post them on here. I'll have a good report either Sunday night or Monday afternoon, when I get out of work. Oh, and there is something I have been thinking about lately. It's been on my mind for a few weeks, after we received bad news about one of our fellow fighters. I am coming to a decision, and it is of great importance. I will have it made by my next post too.

So until then, Lucien Drage, out.

My Car

It basically broke today. On my way home from work, my car decided to start screeching and shooting some liquid from under the hood. I took it over to my dad's friend (he has been working on our cars for years). I wanted it fixed before I head on vacation this week.

Turns out I have a lot to do. The brakes, both front and back need to be replaced. The power steering hose is leaking in a place that's impossible to fix, so that hose needs to be replaced. The ball joint for my front right tire is going too. All in all, it's about 1 grand worth of repairs. So glad I got a decent tax refund this year, and I'm able to take care of this while still having money left over.

The car won't be fixed til either tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday morning. So I have to rely on a ride from my dad to and from work tomorrow and possible Tuesday.

The shop was about a 5 minute walk from the lake, but it's in the opposite direction of my house. I was partially tempted to walk there, see if perhaps there were any other clues at the lake based on what Diana had told me, but my instincts told me not to. So I walked home instead.

Maybe I should've followed my instincts.

I was right by the high school in my town, only a few minutes away from home, and I could swear I heard somebody calling my name. It was very faint, almost like it was being carried on the wind. I wanted to go home, but I felt compelled to follow the voice. I walked up the stairs to the school, and found the voice was leading me to the football field. The gates to the field were locked, as they normally are outside of school hours and football games. However, I swear that the gates seemed to be a little distorted. Not only that, but the voice seemed to be coming from that distortion.

Something was wrong, and I knew it. But it was almost like I couldn't take myself away from it. I reached my hand and was about to touch the gates..........

Something hit me in the head. I look down at the ground. It's a baseball. And there was writing on it:

"Stay away. You aren't ready yet."

I looked back up to the direction where I thought the ball came from. There was somebody there. He or she was wearing what looked like a black cloak, and was walking around the school. I ran to go find the person, but by the time I got to where s/he was, s/he was nowhere to be found.

I think this may have been The Count, trying to protect me. But protect me from what?

I have a feeling I know what that distortion was, but I'm not gonna say anything until I know for sure.

About The Horse

So, I managed to speak to my boss after my work-shift yesterday. Found out about the guy that own's the horse from my job.

About 6 years ago, before I had started working there, an older gentleman came to my job and asked about how much it would cost to take care of a horse there: keeping him in the stable, feeding him, training him, and vet care if it was needed. After learning the cost of it all, the man said that he would return within a week to give them an answer on if he wants his horse there.

About 3 days later, a young man came in. He said that the older man that came in was his father, but that he passed away. However, he still wanted the horse to be kept there. So the young man immediately produces a check, which actually would cover the first year in full. He said that he would come by once in awhile to check on the horse, give extra money if it was needed.

My boss said that he only sees the guy twice a year. Once to check up on the horse, and once to pay for the next full year. I asked what the two guys looked like. He only remembered the young guy. He said he was about my height, maybe a little shorter, with black hair, and almost piercing green eyes. His build was somewhat lean, and he carried himself with a lot of pride. I asked if he knows the man's name. He said that the man only introduced himself as C.

I am guessing that this mystery man that owns the horse is The Count. He hasn't been there yet, so perhaps sometime in the near future, he'll arrive at my job to check on the horse. If so, I need to make sure I'm working that day. I need to meet him.

In other news, Kay is safe. Thanks to Sage and Hakurei. They managed to find, rescue, and get medical help for her. I didn't say anything on here because I didn't want anybody else to know. You never know who is reading this. People may take that as a moment of weakness and come after me, or I may get the taunts and jeers of the people who supported what happened to her. All that matters now is that she's safe.

And in a side note, I'm taking a mini-vacation next weekend. Me, my girlfriend, and several other friends of ours are getting away from our area of New Jersey for four days. I'm hoping that nothing happens during that time. I already had one day with my girl ruined because of Him. I don't need a vacation ruined too.
