My Car

It basically broke today. On my way home from work, my car decided to start screeching and shooting some liquid from under the hood. I took it over to my dad's friend (he has been working on our cars for years). I wanted it fixed before I head on vacation this week.

Turns out I have a lot to do. The brakes, both front and back need to be replaced. The power steering hose is leaking in a place that's impossible to fix, so that hose needs to be replaced. The ball joint for my front right tire is going too. All in all, it's about 1 grand worth of repairs. So glad I got a decent tax refund this year, and I'm able to take care of this while still having money left over.

The car won't be fixed til either tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday morning. So I have to rely on a ride from my dad to and from work tomorrow and possible Tuesday.

The shop was about a 5 minute walk from the lake, but it's in the opposite direction of my house. I was partially tempted to walk there, see if perhaps there were any other clues at the lake based on what Diana had told me, but my instincts told me not to. So I walked home instead.

Maybe I should've followed my instincts.

I was right by the high school in my town, only a few minutes away from home, and I could swear I heard somebody calling my name. It was very faint, almost like it was being carried on the wind. I wanted to go home, but I felt compelled to follow the voice. I walked up the stairs to the school, and found the voice was leading me to the football field. The gates to the field were locked, as they normally are outside of school hours and football games. However, I swear that the gates seemed to be a little distorted. Not only that, but the voice seemed to be coming from that distortion.

Something was wrong, and I knew it. But it was almost like I couldn't take myself away from it. I reached my hand and was about to touch the gates..........

Something hit me in the head. I look down at the ground. It's a baseball. And there was writing on it:

"Stay away. You aren't ready yet."

I looked back up to the direction where I thought the ball came from. There was somebody there. He or she was wearing what looked like a black cloak, and was walking around the school. I ran to go find the person, but by the time I got to where s/he was, s/he was nowhere to be found.

I think this may have been The Count, trying to protect me. But protect me from what?

I have a feeling I know what that distortion was, but I'm not gonna say anything until I know for sure.

  1. You are correct in your thoughts, Lucien. What you saw and felt was exactly what you believed it to be. You may return there one day, but for now, you are not ready.
